Following the Annual General Meeting of the Ulster Hockey Union held on Tuesday 25th May, and taking into consideration the points raised by clubs at the AGM, the Management Board has confirmed the introduction of the following Age Eligibility rule in respect of players eligibility to play adult hockey. This rule will apply WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT.
Age eligibility
(a) To play in Adult hockey a player must have passed their 15th birthday.
(b) Those over 14 who have played and been registered for the season 2009/2010 may continue to play until they qualify
We appreciate this will have some effect on the Junior age group club structures and therefore it is proposed that the underage club leagues for boys and girls will be restructured to be as follows -
Under 15
Under 13
Under 11 (Mini-hockey)
There will no longer be Under 14 and Under 12 leagues on the girls side and all underage leagues will follow the structure outlined above. All clubs with Junior Club sections will be consulted with regarding the format of these leagues and how they will be implemented for the 2010-2011 playing season.
