Greenisland 1st XI, sponsored by 3fivetwo Healthcare, played their second match of the Winemark Shield facing the Premier team Knock. The match was played at Shawsbridge on a newly built waterbase astroturf. The Greenisland team knew it would be a very tough and competitive match and would be going in as the underdogs. The match began at a very high pace, however the game itself was very open.
Greenisland soon adapted to the unfamiliar water surface with super hitting from Audrey MaCorquodale and Ruth Creaney relieving the pressure for the defence. Knock's Julie Doake managed to control the game with her skill and ball distribution leading to her scoring three of Knock's four goals. However Greenisland where denied a penalty flick after a drag flick from Nikki Cairns was stopped on the line by a defender's foot. Final score Greenisland 0 Knock 4.
