Saturday past in mid-afternoon, Greenisland 3rds played their debut match
for 2010 against Owls 2nd XI. Greenisland hoped that the good weather would
help them win.
The 3rd XI started the first half off strongly and about 10 minutes into the
game, the first goal was put away by Laura Cowan. The Greenisland defensive
line was at its best but the Owls team unfortunately managed to score a lucky
rebound in the final minutes of the first half.
After some encouraging words from Barbra Webber the Greenisland side went
out with their heads up. Lots of opportunities arose to score but unfortunately
the young Greenisland team were unable to find the back of the net. So the
final score remained at 1-1.
The team would like to thank the 4th XI players who subbed-up for the 3rd
XI: Alison Haire, Jenny Dillon, Claire Courtney, Tara Shepperd and Laura Cowan.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the umpire, David King,
and to say well done to a well-deserved player of the match, Jenny Dillon.
