For perhaps the first time in Club history, Greenisland 4th XI faced Greenisland
5th XI in a Junior 9 League fixture at Belfast High School on Saturday 7 November
09. With the 5th XI the ‘away’ team, they donned white socks and
red tops and play got underway.
In what can be best described as keenly contested yet good-natured match,
neither team managed to grab that decisive goal. Both teams displayed great
enthusiasm and energy in what proved to be a truly end-to-end game. However
the match ended in a 0-0 draw, so no bragging rights were earned for either
team back at the Clubhouse!
Unsurprisingly the players of the match were both defenders - Jenny Dillon
(4th XI) and Barbra Webber (5th XI). Thanks as ever to the dedicated team
coaches – Lindsay Anderson (4th XI) and Faye McCune (5th XI) and to
umpires Ian Ritchie and David King who kept the play flowing.
