Greenisland's 5th XI were keen to get the match going on Saturday 12th December against Ards. All team members turned up with a positive attitude that a goal could be won. With Faye McCune stepping into nets the match got going!
This match was tough on Greenisland's defence of Rachael Spencely, Barbara Webber and Jan Doherty as most of the play was down in Greenisland’s half. Faye made some excellent saves (putting the opposition of by screaming) however by the end of the first half Ards 5th XI were winning by three goals.
Greenisland had a team talk at half time to keep the team spirit up and see what could be done differently. So when the second half started the team held their heads up...hoping for a goal!
Again most of the game was at Greenisland's circle however there was some great hit outs from the defenders to the forwards to drive up the pitch although they were unable to find the back of the net!
This match was tough for Greenisland defenders with the overall result being 7-0 to Ards. Heads up girls, plenty more matches for goals! Player of the match was Faye McCune and thanks for volunteering to do nets!
