A 4pm push back presented some problems for the travelling Greenisland side,
who, having gone down 10-0 last week were hoping for a less defensively demanding
fixture at 'Garvey's ground.
The young team performed very well with solid defending from Jan Doherty,
Zoe and Laura Johnston and Rachel Spencely. The two Garvey goals scored in
the first half came courtesy of their experienced and somewhat unstoppable
right wing.
The squad rallied in the second half and pulled back a goal from a great pass
into the circle from Jan Doherty. Jan's ball found Gillian Scott's stick and
she wasted no time in slipping it past the Garvey keeper. With the Greenisland
girls putting a deal more pressure on the Garvey defence, it was somewhat
inevitable that Garvey would capitalise when play broke down. So with a final
score of 3-1 to Garvey, the Greenisland girls went home a happier bunch than
they did last week! Player of the match was Gillian Scott.
